The Birmingham RC Association is an organization of hobbyists with an interest in radio-controlled aircraft.  The organization was founded in 1960 but has been at its current location north of Birmingham since 1987.  Birmingham RC owns about 36 acres outside Morris/Gardendale, AL, with a sheltered electrified facility, pilot tables, and a 502-foot paved runway to fly remote control model aircraft of all types, including propeller-driven, drones, helicopters, and electric-ducted fan (EDF) turbine jets.  Birmingham RC Association is a member of the Academy of Model Aeronautics (Club #100) and the Flite Test community.  Both of these national FAA recognized organizations are dedicated to providing RC flying fields and model learning in a safe and fun environment.  Birmingham RC is open to the public to visit, enjoy our annual community RC Fly-ins in April and October or become a voting member.  Birmingham RC offers year-round training and RC discovery flights free and at no cost for ages 7 to 99 years old!   Come ‘LEARN TO FLY RC PLANES’ with US!!

We are local hobbyists who want to inspire the future of aviation in the greater Birmingham area; through dreaming, designing, building, educating, and flying model aircraft of all sizes for fun and competition.  The Birmingham RC Association loves aircraft and we want to share and grow this love with our community, fellow enthusiasts, and students of all ages.  The Birmingham RC Association is dedicated to growing our education outreach endeavors for S.T.E.M. students and teachers to provide an avenue for any student to have an opportunity to be inspired by model aviation, design, and fun for having a potential career in aviation-related fields.

The Birmingham RC Association is dedicated to providing a FUN, enjoyable, comfortable, educational, safe and welcoming atmosphere to fly, build, and promote RC model aircraft.

Birmingham RC Association recognizes the need to provide a sharing and educational atmosphere for interested students and adults in our greater Birmingham community.  We understand the importance of Science Technology Engineering and Math education and its relationship with aviation interest and careers.  Our goal is to provide a FUN and learning experience for S.T.E.M. students through building and flying RC aircraft.
